Inspired by the luminous "kesel" (bananas) of Sri Lanka, the work transforms an everyday motif into something monumental. The enlarged form transcends the intimacy of the object, becoming a prominent statement in space. The intense color palette contrasts with the natural linen, enhancing the impression of both directness and painterly restraint. Material and motif intertwine, referring to memory, perception, and the shifting of meaning in our gaze. What do we truly see – the object or our idea of it?
